Hunted south of San Antonio Saturday and Sunday. Company is Texas dove and waterfowl. Saw lots of birds, managed to bag 6 each day. Better shooting would have helped. Saturday got rained out by a shower at 5:00. Sunday the birds were a bit higher but still there. 85 each day for the special whitewing season. There where no drunks so it was better than what I did last year in Pecos. Robert was great. He explained the operation. Pointed out where the birds were coming from and their anticipated actions. Nice safe run operation, worth the cost to me. It was a bit different from what I have done in the past. I normally hunt water in the evenings. Never have done strictly pass shooting before, but I had fun for my first time. Sorry no pictures. But take my word... The birds tasted great. http://www.txdovehunts.com | ||

In the South Zone, all of the wet weather has the birds spread out so limits of birds are slower in coming than last year when water was at a premium. I got out late this year due to a safari in Mozambique and missed the first few weeks of the season but so far so good. I am off to Maine next week for a poke at grouse and woodcock... think the Northeasterners will look at me funny if I show up in wranglers and chippewa snake boots? On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
