Any recommendations for SC or Georgia quail hunting? Prefer an operation that has lodging. Thanks.

Budget is critical. You can easily spend a much as &1500-2000/day at the premium South GA preserveS. How much do you want to spend? I live within about an hour’s drive of some of the finest(read expensive) preserves in the US. Essentially all of them offer lodging options.

Cost is secondary. I'm looking for quality first.

In that case, consider Rio Piedra, Southwinds or Pine Hill Plantations, all in southwest GA. IIRC, all 3 are Orvis and Berreta endorsed operations.

Please post where you go and results. On several high end plantations you can hunt from horseback or mule drawn wagons. Quite the experience. The hunting season runs for another 6-8 weeks.

We dropped our GSP off the 16th to Cris Goegan who does his winter training at the Silver Oak Plantation outside of Waynesboro, GA. "The Bird Dog Capital" They don't do hunts for general public but if they did I imagine it would be on the top end. Beautiful country and habitat.

I only know them because we shared a table at a banquet. Their donation hunt went for a good price and they seemed like great people.

I've been with Pine Hill Plantation 5 or 6 times. Doug and Jackie Coe are great hosts and their quail hunts and hospitality are fantastic.

I give them a high recommendation.

Have been to Southwind many times and no complaints. Heading that way in a couple of weeks as a matter of fact. This will be the latest we have ever been there.

I really enjoyed Pine Hills.

The mule wagons were a lot of fun.

Good dog work, good food, very nice place.

There are many nice commercial quail hunting preserves in SW Georgia along with some of the country's finest privately owned plantations. A few other of the most popular ones would include:

Wynfield Plantation, an excellent spot with several nice cabins for visiting families, friends, or a group and also a popular spot for larger events such as last week's Georgia Quail Hunt where the State's top politicians and economic leaders entertain large business prospects.

Another good one is Rio Piedra Plantation, which is owned by a gentleman that retired from Coca Cola. The lodge is right on the Flint River at a beautiful site.

Another good one is Southern Woods Plantation, which is run by Benji DeLoach. The board of Quail Forever recently held their meeting there. On the Wing's podcast did an episode while there which included a great interview with Dr. Bill Palmer, the President of Tall Timbers.

Lastly, and these are in no order of preference, I'd look at Riverview Plantation, which is run by Cader Cox and his family. This is one of the first commercial places in our area, having started in the 1950's. I've run into people from Massachusetts to Tanzania that have mentioned to me that they enjoy going here.

There are a few other good ones, but between these and the one's mentioned by others, I think you'll have plenty of good options and largely know about the best of the hunting preserves in our area. Have fun!

It is getting a bit late in the season. Openings are probably rare.

I have been to Southern Woods. It is excellent.

Here's little video that came out a few days ago from Tall Timbers on hunting our wild Georgia quail, my personal year-round game management and hunting passion.

Quail Ridge in Norman Park, right out of Moultri, is a great place that has been operating for three generations.

My family has hunted there a few times and they have fished and bird hunted with us in Alaska.

They have a web site and can be reached at 229-985-5011
