Norty and I did OK this morning in a small ~100 acre pond/swamp. Bagged two limits of canadas, four mallards and a GWT between us. Had our shooting been better, we'd have killed limits each, but the truth is we both missed shots we shouldn't have. Saw a few woodies but did not get any shots at them. Had two jokers paddle by our spread 10 minutes before legal, only to set up 60 yards directly behind us, which was annoying at best. They were lousy judges of distance and even lousier shots, however, and on one occasion their poor shooting worked to our advantage, as a flock of geese flying toward where they had set up veered off their original course after being shot at by them early (and missed). The honkers turned to fly directly overhead our rig, and we killed 3 out of that bunch. Watch and learn, kids. Wink

Be back out for the coastal opener in the morning, with MA inland and coastal openers to follow next week. Excellent numbers of birds I am seeing, so have high hopes. Happy days are here again!

If you killed every bird that you shot at you wouldn't get to shoot as much and that wouldn't be any fun but it would be cheaper. Big Grin

You're right, but the words 'cheap' and 'duck hunting' do not even belong in the same sentence. Smiler
