L. David KeithThanks Bill. Enjoyed watching the dog work. Upland birds have always been a lot of fun to hunt but we have lost a lot of Bobwhites to Turkey's and varmints, Ruffed Grouse are only in the east section of TN. Best of luck on your return to NM. Keep me posted.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

ZephyrThanks for the video...
As a New England bird hunter who hunts 40+ days a year Woodcock and Grouse it's always fun to see different birds and habitats....
Just got back from Alma NM spent 10 days working on a friend's ranch saw numerous coveys of quail I believe they were mearns and scaled

Bill/OregonThanks David.
Zephyr, I miss hunting blue and ruffed grouse and mountain quail in the Oregon Cascades.
I was in Alma a few weeks ago. Visited this very poignant site, the grave of a former cavalryman, Sgt. James Cooney, who was on his way with a friend to warn the settlers of Alma that Apache renegade Victorio was headed their way when Victorio and his raiders caught and slaughtered them in April of 1880. His brother and fellow miners blasted a tomb out of this rock and laid him to rest in it.
The tomb is just a few miles east of Alma on a dirt road.
