First half of the split in Archer and Young counties was pretty slow. In fact I never saw a duck on any of the ponds I have access to. I have been looking forward to some good hunting since all of the ponds are full with lots of feed in and around them. The 12th. of December was first day of the second half and things finally fell into place. One gadwall, one baldpate and 4 ringnecks. Didn't catch any fish, but as far as retrieving ducks is concerned the rod and reel don't eat much or require rabies shots.

Sometimes simple is more satisfying.
