One of Us |
Clara and I went to Quail Creek Plantation outside of Okeechobee, FL last weekend. We had a wonderful time. I used my 1882 Lancaster hammer gun in 12 bore. The birds are preserve birds but they are released and maintained in the field throughout the year, not placed moments before arrival. They fly good, they are in coveys, and the guide/dog handler that was with us, Ronnie, is 5th generation Floridian and a true gentleman and scholar. The chef at the lodge is great. We had the best steak dinner we have ever had outside Argentina. Turns out he worked at a lodge in Cordoba for a couple of years. Lunch is a fried quail buffet and breakfast is a typical Southern breakfast. Overall, the attention, service and lodge are top of the line. We will definitely be back. We were going to return to Texas this year but I took a new position at work that will keep us in Florida for quite a while longer. We decided we need to see what hunting and shooting opportunities we had around us. Larry | ||
