thornellARKANSAS HUNTING PICS
I just got back from several days of duck hunting in central Arkansas. We had a great trip, but didn't kill a lot of ducks. Here are some pics.
Some ducks we shot.
Me on the left with my friend michael and a days bag.
A flock of snows, blues and specks.
Me with a specklebelly goose.
Michael with a beautiful pintail.
Duck poppers and deer tenderloin on the grill.
Arkansas sunset.

PalmerThornell,
Great pictures - thanks.
I have not been down to Stuttgart this year but have heard from friends that it has been a little slow for what they are used to having.
The other great thing (besides hunting ducks) I like about going to Stuttgart is visiting Macks Prairie Wings. I assume you stopped in at least once?
Anyone who goes in there and doesn't drop a month's rent needs to have his pulse checked.

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

coyote baitMyself and 3 buddies just got back from Clarksville Arkansas. We didn't have too much luck. Not very many ducks. We hunted Lake Dardanelle. The game warden told us that there numbers really haven't been that good the last 4 years and this year wasn't very great. But we had a good time and did get a few ducks. Nice pics. Now I am hungry for some grilled duck too.
Life is too short to be taken seriously, it is only temporary and none of us are getting out of it alive.

thornellCoyote bait, It has been slow since the 98'-99' season, but I have seen more ducks this year than the last several. Glad you got a few though.
Palmer, Mack's is a great place, but I hate it because I always spend way too much on things I never intended to buy. Also, have you been in the fine gun room? I checked it out the last trip and drooled for a while. They also have several African mounts there now too.

Palmerthornell,
You are absolutely right about the danger of venturing into Macks. Unfortunately it seems I always have to go there to get a 3 day license and then..... and Marion (the owner) well, he does have a knack for hiring not so displeasing to the eye cashiers.
I had the opportunity to hunt with Marion a couple years ago and stayed at his lodge. He is - to say the least - an interesting character -in fact, that whole town of Stuttgart is full of characters.
Another favorite visit is to the Prairie museum in Stuttgart to see the exhibits of the old days of duck hunting.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
