Heym 450/400Nebraska trip
Quick hunt report..
Booked a duck/goose hunt to Nebraska this December. Some of you may know that conditions this fall throughout the Midwest have really put a damper on waterfowl hunting. Temps have been extremely warm and the migration is just now slowly starting.
Date: November 29th- December 1st
Guide: Travis Pool
Agent: L. David Keith
Location: York, Nebraska
Before leaving I knew we had our work cut out for us but overall this was a good hunt and we managed to scratch out some birds despite the conditions. Travis is a hard working guide and has prime spots to hunt the Platte and surrounding areas. If you're willing to being mobile and flexible you can really increase your odds when it comes to this type of hunt. Simply put..you must go where the birds are and that can and will change daily.

L. David KeithBig congrats on the band and that second day was a slammer, congrats! Our first day brought 51 mph winds and gusting. Needless to say, the birds we did see where all heading south and well above the "we don't give a rat what you've got going on" altitude. Second day was a little better with a greenhead, some geese and pheasants. Our third day found us on the Platte where we scratched a few ducks but really screwed up on a large flock of Canada's Travis and I worked in. They broke up into smaller trio's and groups with each of us looking in different directions when we should have been shooting....lol. We all had geese at 20-30 yards. They left us without saying goodbye.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

This is shaping up to be my worst duck season in NH ever. Zero birds around.
