Thanks to everyone that replied to my previous "looking for a shotgun receommendation" thread! I appreciate each and every thought that you all shared. Anyway, I've pretty much decided that I'm going to with a 12 gauge Benelli autoloader, but I need a little help narrowing down to exactly which one. My first question is, how important is a camo gun to turkey hunting success (as compared to an all black gun)? The more I think about this, the more I think turkey hunting is going to be a bigger part of this gun's duty than I originally thought. Part of me says that hunters killed a lot of turkeys with guns that were't camouflaged, but another part says that I'll take every advantage I can get. I'm pretty sure that I am going to buy the gun as an all black gun, so this question really pertains more to whether I should invest in camouflaged barrels and extra stocks. The second question I have is, 3" chamber or 3-1/2"? As I said originally much of this gun's time in the field will be spent upland hunting. I know this question of 3" or 3-1/2" doesn't matter there, but what about for waterfowl and turkeys? My thought here is similar to the first I posed in that I know that a lot of birds have been killed with 3" shells, but I'll take every advantage I can get. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and experience. Bob | ||
