I hunt dove 2-3 times per week from Sept thru mid January. During the earlier part of the season, many of the birds are still young and small. We use 3 1/4, 1 1/4 #8 shot then. After the cooler weather gets here and the larger and tougher migratory birds move in, we use the same 3 1/4, 1 1/4 shells but go to a 7 1/2 shot.
