Some of you old timers from Idaho may have known Leland.

He was an adventurer and a World War Two Vet.

He chased the migrating Canadian Geese in the fall from the Peace River in Northern Alberta to Pocatello Idaho, every year for nearly 30 years. His specialty was long range pass shooting with his 10 guage.

I first met him in 1970 on the Nahanni River in a terrible storm and flood. He was headed up to the Viginia Falls to take photos. He never made it. He capsized his 26 ft scow in the Georges Riffle" Rapids and had to walk out to an airstip in the bush, which took a few days.

But he made it the next year. And his photos adorned many calendars for years. That great Nahanni River photo of Pulpit Rock at the falls is his.

" He was a pal and a friend of mine,
And we tramped around in the hard old times.

He never cared if we had no dough,
As we tramped around in the rain and snow."

From the song "Ramblin Boy".

They will lay him to rest in Pocatello tomorrow.

The following is from his obit:

If you knew Leland, please go to You Tube and listen to the old Tom Paxton song "Ramblin Boy". Some of us in Canada who knew him are remebering him this way today.
