Right,
Still curious about this steel issue...

In Canada at present I am using an older Stevens 820 12 ga (2 3/4") pump gun, just messing about on the trap range.

It has a 'Sav-Choke', which for all intents and purposes is identical in function to a Poly-Choke (I emailed to ask if they made these for Savage/Stevens).

What is the consensus with using steel in this gun, keeping the choke set to Imp.Cyl.?

Thanks

I would have to think if it is "old" that the bore is not chrome lined. This seems to be the criteria that most shooters use to determine whether or not it will handle steel shot without adversely affecting the bore. I have an older Mossberg 500 pump gun that fits me perfectly, but I would not use steel shot in it.
