Favorite brand, models, specs in 28? Im going to look at a Fausti next week. Really pretty and not as expensive as some of the other "high end" Ive seen. Want a good shooting gun, not an art peice. Thoughts

Cabela's is really promoting their brand. They are good Italian guns. I am sure for every now and then field shooting any of the Fausti models will hold up pretty good. I do not know who is offering after sales service for them...not sure if you will need to send the gun back to Italy for repairs/tuneups or someone will do it for them in USA. After sales service for Euro guns can become a nightmare...so please ask the tough questions when you go to buy one.

The only one I've ever shot is a Belgium Browning O/U. It's all the 28 I need.

Price wise, thats just a whole different breed a cat. If I spent that much on a gun, I wouldnt be able to afford beer [and Im already drinking Coors Lt].

Sesolinc, there seem to be two different price points with the Fausti, right around 1K (for the 12 ga) and around 3K for the sub gauges and presumably better wood. That's what I observed when looking at Guns International and Gun Broker. Is this not so? As mentioned above by another poster, and in the link I posted, be sure to find out who services the Fausti before buying.

Well, I could not stand myself and just went to Dicks and bought the only 28g in the place. Savage/Stephens, O/U,26" bls. $400, marked down from $599. Everything Ive read about the round is EXACTLY right; its a great round!!! I shot 1 round each at Wobble Trap, Trap and Skeet and shot everybit as well with it as Ive done with my 12g 101. I could not believe that little shell has that much wallup. Shocking. And as light as it is, its like pointing your finger at the clays. Going to cut it down to a 13" pull for my boys and really get serious about finding "mine"

You might shop around for a good Parker Reproduction. If so, try and find a double trigger gun. Nice little guns!
My prefereance is a CSMC Fox but that is probably more coin than what you are interested in.
My son has a CSMC RBL 28 and just loves it. You can make a trip to Conn and probably pick out you own gun at their mfg. facility. To go in their gun room is worth the trip.
I really like the fine checkering on the Fausti's. I was recently looking for a $3K 16 SXS gauge and I will probably get a Fausti, RBL or a Weatherby which is a Fausti.

I ran across the Browning European Field model on their website. Trying to find a dealer with one in stock to go look at. Drive thru Conn every summer on way to Gloucester, so thats probably good advise.

Beretta makes a fine little scaled action 28 gauge over and under in the S686 Silver Pigeon S.

But make sure you get the scaled action model and not the one built on the 20 gauge frame.

It's a great little shotgun and not terribly expensive.

I looked at a Fausti DEA SL and my interest stopped when I found out it was a sideplate gun. Next stop, Merkel 280 SL.

Anyone here own and shoot a Fausti? Cabela's has a sweet looking 28 for sale.

Which one are you referring to? I saw several. I am not knowledgeable on Faustis except that in a web search there were several comments about not knowing who serviced them. These comments may be old, but prudence would dictate that you check this out before buying one.

They also have a round body 28 but is seems to cost a lot more. Impact guns has one listed but not in stock.

I've been extremely fortunate to have owned four 28 Ga doubles.....a Winchester 101 (in a three barrel set), a Franchi Veloce.....(a 5 1/2 Lb O/U), an SKB 385 side/side, and a American Arms O/U.....all very nice arms.....

That said.....none of them gave me anything I don't have in my Citori lightning feather in 20 Ga. Get a 28 if you so are inclined.....but when practicality hits the fan, I love my 20 Ga.....very little difference and my 20 Ga is a very serious hunting gun in the 3" chamber and even for waterfowl.

I've been shooting a 28 gauge CZ Ringneck SXS the past two dove seasons. It is like using an ultralight fly rod. Whippy and responsive.

The first year I shot a hodgepodge of shells from 6's to 9's that I got at an estate sale. I picked up a MEC 650 at the sale also that was NIB.

Last year I loaded up a bunch of AA's with #7's. I don't know what the deal is with the 7's but they kill like Thor's Hammer. The year before I had quite a few hist that made me wring a few necks. Last year they were dying mid-flight and just bouncing when they hit.

I hit one flight as a storm moved in and killed 10 with 12 shots in less than 15 minutes. I was very pleased with it that day.

It has screw in chokes (5 with the gun) and single triggers. Non-ejector. I like the 28 but in reality a 20 would have been more practical but when I kick the bucket I'll bet that Ringneck will be in the safe!!

ended up buying an Italian made Remington Premier O/U. Very nice looking and built like a little tank. Have it at Comp-n-Choke getting a pair of skeet and of mod now

I was reading the previous "my wife is coming" post and thought of a joke. What the difference in your wife and your dog? IF you lock them both in the truck for 2 hours, when you open it, the dog is happy to see you!!!!! HA!!!!!

The Beretta small bores are indeed excellent, when on the scaled actions. I think they should only come with 30" tubes though as anything less is just to lively to shoot.

Lincoln also do an excellent 28b and the 32" barrels are awesome. I was looking at buying one a couple of years ago to shoot driven pheasants with but ended up falling in love with 16b hammergun....

Well aint I feeling like a cheapskate shooting a Charles Daly OU and a Weatherby Athena d'Italia SxS? Guess I'm not a true gentleman, as I'd rather spend money on a rifle any day than on a shotty gun.

I guess we are all different, my 687 has 26 inch barrels. I chose it because the balance of the gun on that tiny frame just seemed to fit better than the 28 inch gun I looked at. True it is a little on the fast side but it didnt take much to used to it, its deadly.
