Illegal Shot SIZES?

I just read sizes larger that T are not legal for waterfowling. Does this mean my supply of steel F and TT shot is collectable now? Also would this make Hevi Shot Dead Coyote illegal?

Apparently it is illegal in Arkansas?

Glad I live in Texas!

Unless I have read this wrong and misinterpretted, in which case my appologies.

I looked thru the Texas Waterfowl Digest and could not find anything stipulating shot sizes that could/could not be ued here.

Correct....you got to check the regs as most states have anything bigger than T-shot illegal FOR WATERFOWLING.

Shotgun is a 40 yard game (in the States with Non-Toxic shot) and you can shoot the biggest game birds (Tundra Swans 20 pounds in weight) with ease with T shot....why would you want to go bigger ?

Now T shot can smoke a swan at 40 yards, it will bust open the geese up at 40 yards...the pellets are really big. Why would someone want to use anything bigger than T is beyond my comprehension.

If someone wants to justify the use of bigger shot then I am all ears and would love to hear your argument Smiler

bigger that T shot is useless in my experience, you get pretty bad patterns with holes in the,.....

Even for the biggest birds, 2's heavy shot, or bb's work great.

And if you just shoot the head like it was a dove, instead of shooting at the whole bird, pretty much any shot size will work...

I don't hunt swans and rarely get shots at geese. The few time I have shot T shot out of my 10 gauge double, I was not impressed. I much prefer #4 or #2 shot out of either my 10 or 12 gauges. JMO.

It was collectable when I bought it. I heard it was going to be discontinued so I bought a case of each. That was well over 10 years ago! Never used anything bigger than BBB notox. I usually give the F and TT to friends to see what they will do with it. I had no idea it was not allowed in some states until a few days ago.

Hevi-shot. For maximum range be sure you are using the "heavier than lead" version.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

I took all my waterfowl last year with Classic Doubles Hevi 16ga.

I found a NIB SP10 and couldn't resist. Now I just gotta figure out which Hevi load to use #2 or BB for those really long range Honkers and SandHills.

As an aside, in Texas, it is legal to use lead for sandhills if you are not on a Fed Wildlife Refuge or a Texas Wildlife Management area with different regs. Using lead assumes you are not going to shoot any other waterfowl, of course.
