Hmm. For upland birds and turkeys, or what? If so, that sucks. My opinion only. ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

I believe I've read most grouse are taken with a rifle in Montana than with a shotgun already. Kinda like a tradition from the pioneer days.

It's HB 159. This is what the bill says- NEW SECTION. Section 8. Repealer. The following section of the Montana Code Annotated is repealed: 87-3-401. Restrictions on rifles for bird hunting.

Some.....not most. Blue grouse are a favorite of rifle hunters.

Dont know about MT, but in my native Colorado it's legal to take grouse and fall turkeys with a rifle. I used to always carry a couple of Barnes solids for my 7 mag when elk hunting. Took quite a few grouse with it when the elk were scarce. Nice clean hole through them. Never took a turkey with a rifle, but my brother has legally shot the heads off several with his elk rifle.
