Hey all, I just put a barrel on a new Encore frame. When I took the frame out of the box the hammer appeared to be in a half cock position. I put the barrel on and the hammer will not pull to the rear and cock. It feels like the hammer is hitting a block or something. The trigger moves a little when I pull the hammer back. The hammer moves to the rear about 1/4 inch and just stops. Any ideas ?? Thanks in advance..........................JJ " venator ferae bestiae et aquae vitae "

The spring loaded locking lugs on the rear of the barrel push against a lever on the inside of the frame that allows the hammer to cock, only if the barrel is firmly locked. Sometimes closing the barrel more firmly, with a snapping motion, will let the locking lugs engage a little more, releasing the interlock. If this doesn't help, you can remove the barrel and operate the locking lever with your finger or a small screwdriver to see if the hammer will cock. Let us know if this helps. Nashcat

Nashcat, Thanks, that was the problem. I ordered a custom bbl in 480 Ruger from Match Grade Machine in Utah. They did not get the spring loaded detent under the extractor machined properly. It does not engage the plunger that releases the trigger......so its going back..........thanks..................JJ " venator ferae bestiae et aquae vitae "
