Hey everybody! I was looking at a gun auction (which had a lot of guns, around 150 if I remember correctly, might have been more, though), and there were a few T/C handguns for sale. However, some of them (they were all .44 Mag. barrels, I noticed, too) said they were with a choke? The descriptions on the guns weren't too great and there weren't any pictures, but I for the life of me can not figure out what they mean by choke. Anbody have a clue??? Or is it more possible that it was a typo or just a plain mistake? It was mentioned on several different .44 Mag. T/Cs, though, so I'm really curious now.

I heal fast and don't scar.

Maybe it's a muzzle brake as I have TC Encore pistol barrels with muzzle brakes to tame down my 30-06 rounds but the TC Muzzle Tamer is useless on my 454casull barrel.

Maybe they were 45 Colt/.410 barrels and the choke was for the .410 shotgun shell.

Good morning this choke is used to break up the old hot shot, shot tubes they can be removed as they are theaded to the inside of the barrel good for snakes with #6 shot

I thought about it being a muzzle break, too, and someone just called it by the wrong name (the collection seemed to have a lot more shotguns than anything), so maybe if a relative wrote the description that's all they knew about and labeled it wrong. I don't think any were for barrels with a .45/.410, I didn't think guns that shot either of them had a choke in them, either, anyway.

encore7,

You wouldn't be the person putting the auction off, are you? I noticed you're from ohio and that's where the auction was. I've never heard of a .44 (or anything with a rifled barrel) that had a choke tube in it, still kinda has me thinking.

Once upon a time T/C made 44 magnum barrels with a screw in choke at the end of the barrel. They also sold plastic shot capsules that you can fill with lead shot and reload into 44 mag cases to to become essentially small 410's. They discontinued these a while back because shooter's were buying the 45 Colt/410 barrels once ATF okayed it.
