Thanks guys what you are saying makes sence to me. I'll start shooting the rifle in a couple of weeks and see how it does. Like i said i read about this in a couple of books and i thought maybe this was a common practice among cap lock shooters. While i have you hear let me just ask are there top quality flints out there that i would want to try in my flintlock. The only reason i chose not to use it was that a i was getting alot of misfires because the flint kept chipping so that there would not be enough spark to set off the pan. Thanks again

to prime a nipple i usually roll them between my forfinger and thumb........wait a minute wrong nipples.....my bad.
