Just got my new Omega 50cal. and wanted to know some good loads to try in it for deer hunting this fall. I have a supply of the T/C 250gr Shock Wave bullets and some 777, both loose and in 50gr pellets. Any help appreciated!

i have owed 3 omeaga's and set up around 20 now

the tc shock wave bullets are pretty good i buy stright sst's from hornady persoanly.

anwho.....every gun i have set up shoots the 3 tripple seven pellet load with the250-300 grain pills very accurate 1-1.5" at 100 yards easy.

the 250 are a bit light and usually dont shoot as well. the 300's are far more accurate just my observation.

also do you plan on mounting a scope i use lupies for everything but the bushnell elite 3200 3-9 has been my choise for the bp inlines for a while works great.

if you have any questions pm me and my we can drop a line to each other i always prefer a phone conversation over typing

Yes, I already have a scope on it. I'll give this all a try the next or two and get back to you. Thanks!

Shooting 100 to 130gr 777 pellets with the shockwave usually is the most accurate with most guns, although some shoot good with 150grs too. Just try the different powder charges and see what it shoots best with. By the way, I shoot 130gr 777 pellets with the 250gr shockwaves and have no problem shooting approx 2" groups at 150 yds.

Do the pellets come in 50cal. 30gr size? I have only found the 50cal 50gr. pellets in local retailers.

Yes they come in 30 grain of the 777. I am shooting 110 gr. of 777 with powerbelts 245.gr. I am going whitetail hunting next week.

I am going to the range today and I am going to try 130gr. with the 295. gr powerbelt. I am shooting a 50.cal omega also.

lightning carfully watch the 100 grain plus loads with those power belts they have a nasty habet of blowing the belt when going over 100 grains of powder.

I shot the 295 gr. tips today with 130 gr. of powder. Shot pretty good. But I am new to ML, and I am wondering do you ever get a so called "flyer" or anything.

you shure do..... how many shots in your strngs.

i try and limit my groups with any muzzel loader to 3 shot strings.

also i would give the 300 grain xtp mag and the 300 grain sst a try they shoot moa groups and the kick ass on deer sized animals

I am shooting open sights and shoot 3 shot groups. I run 1 spit patch and 3 dry pathes down the muzzle and into the bore after each shot to clean. I tried 250 sst hornady today, but I didn't like how they shot. With the powerbelt, I shot the fist 3 shot group and the first 2 shots cut holes at 100yds. Either the 3rd shot went into the same hole, or I caught a flyer. I notice this flyer might happen when I run my first spit patch down the bore and it comes down and back "way to easy". This has happened once before, and I caught another flyer I think. I don't know if this makes any sense, but it's the only thing I can notice. The second 3 shot group I shot about a 4" group.

Is the powerbelt really a problem? God, they load so good and shoot good to. I would really like some feedback on this. We might need to start another thread on this, but I would like to know people's experience.

there is not need to clean during you 3 shot string. only after every 3rd shot 1-2 spit patches followed by a 2-3 dry patches.

also the win chester 209 primers are the most accurate and were used when tc delveled there load data the ccis and federals are a little hot. and may acutlly push the powder and sabot up the barrel a little befor the powder really ignights.

i have alwaysed used winchest primers and got my best accuracy using them in an muzzel loader.

the omega was twisted to shoot the heavyer 300 grain pills thats why your 295 shoot better than the 250's

I was using CCI primers. I don't know if this made any difference. Do you think the Powerbelt 295 grain will be good on whitetail.

The copper-hollows work best with Powerbelts on deer. The lead ones tend to fragment into several pieces sometimes.

ya the 295 should work just fine but keep them to deer the cva stuff is way to fragile to use on anything much bigger.
