I refer you to my recent post "Tulle Fusil de Chasse Success in 2003". My Tulle is a flintlock smoothbore French hunting gun of a pattern dating from 1729 originally manufactured in France for use and trade in New France (Canada). It will shoot into three to four inches at 50 yards. I haven't chrono'd my load yet (.600 ball, .010 wonderlubed patch, 70 grains FFFg) but I expect it runs with the 20 gauge "Foster" shotgun slug so far as effect on game is concerned. I used it under close range hunting conditions as I am still building experience and confidence with my new gun and because it lacks of a rear sight. Good hunting!
