Anyone taken a Buffalo with BP?

L. David KeithAnyone taken a Buffalo with BP?
I'm curious if any of you have hunted the world's Buffalo with black powder? (our Bison excluded) Other than Jim Shockey's Cape Buffalo, I'm not familiar with anyone doing it. I'm thinking about taking one in Australia. Appreciate any thoughts.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Shockey has taken Austrailian buffalo as well.

I might want to do that as well for a trophy bull. What caliber would you use? I'm thinking of a .58 Hawken cap gun with buckhorn sight and brass front blade.
For culling I'd like to take my Marlin .45-70 guide gun.

L. David KeithThis summer (July) I'll be at the big sports/hunting show in Birmingham, Alabama. My neighbor will be our own wapiti7 from NM. I'm looking forward to checking out his Ultimate Muzzle loading bullets. I know he's into long range M/L shooting (300 yds+) but are his bullets up to the test on a 2,000 lb Buffalo? I want to know, as I might take a .50 caliber to Australia. Early season (july/august) is the time for Archery and M/L hunting as you can get within bow range of bulls due to the heavy foilage.
namibiahunter; .58 would be a good choice on Buffalo I would think. I use .577 in 1863 Springfield and 1855 Enfield for Deer. Really just punches a nickel size hole through them. Need a modern minie ball and not those Civil War minie's we cast out of pure lead...
