I have a Stainless Encore 50cal and shoot 100grs of Pyrodex RS a 240gr Hornady XTP with a sabot. I would like to know the muzzle velocity at the barrel the drop at 200 yards and 300 yards if sighted 3" high at 100 yards.

I plan to scope this rifle for the regular firearm season but have no place to shoot targets beyond 100 yrds.

Your help will be appreciated.

MB thanks that is a start.

I can assume that the velocity at the muzzle is 1719 fps according the Hodgdon web site. Does anyone know how much a 240gr Hornady XTP will drop at 200 yards and 300 yards if sighted 3" high at 100 yards.

Thanks for your help.

Just ran it in my Ball calc. and w/ a BC guestimate of .147 (should be really close) you should be 2.8 high at 50, 3 high at 100, zeroed at 137, 1.7 low at 150, 13.2 low at 200, 32.5 low at 250, and 61 low at 300.

Trajectory about like a brick Big Grin.

I used to shoot Knights 260s in front of 100 g Pyro and it dropped around 18"-20" at 200 then, I switched to 777 pellets and 250 SSTs and now I'm zeroed at 100 and only 12" low at 200. If I picked it up to 3" high at 100 I could pretty much hold dead on a deer out to 200 w/ this load.

Hope that Helps, remember these numbers aren't Facts but, they should be close.

Good Luck
