I have now have my new T-C Omega Z5. I plan to shoot the 250 gr. Barnes Tipped Spit-Fire MZ bullets.

I have tried the new Blackhorn 209 powder. It's GREAT; I will continue to use it!!

With powder and bullets being so expensive these days, I hope to learn from the experiences of others.

If you have shot the Omega / 250 Tipped SpitFire / Blackhorn combination, would you please share the amount of powder that you found to work best? Please be sure to make it clear whether you measured the powder by volume or weighed the charge on a scale.

Shot mine with the iron sights at 100, got @ 3" groups with these old eyes at dusk. That was with 70gr. BH 209 by weight, and with 75gr. and 80gr. Could definitely tell the difference in recoil and velocity at each step!

Got my Nikon mounted today, can't get to the range until Friday.

Since the BDC reticle is calibrated for a 150gr. (volume) load of true black and most bp substitutes, and BlackHorn says that 120gr. (volume) of BH209 is equivalent to 150gr. (volume) of those, and BlackHorn also says that to convert volumetric charges to weighed charges, use a multiplier of 0.7.....

The first load I am going to try with the scope is 84gr. (weight) of BH209.

I'll let you know how it does.

I just got back from an elk hunt using 120 grains (volume) of BH 209 over the 250 gr. barnes. I just switched to the 250 grain Barnes EZ. It is a flat base ez-loading load. Much easier to get down the barrel as my Omega is tight!

I guess my Omega just doesn't like the Barnes bullets. 3" groups at 100 yds., with any powder charge.

Truthfully, I don't much care for the Barnes combo, either. WAAAAAYYYYY too hard to load!!!! I don't think it would be possible from any of my tree stands.

I think I like the Barnes bullet, but the sabot that it comes in is WAY too tight in my bore.

Any suggestions on aftermarket sabots to try?

I shoot the Barnes 250 EZ Expander from my Omega but I use Triple 7 powder - 120 grains loose and shoot 1" groups all the time. I shoot the same load in my Encore and have chronographed it in the Encore at 2216fps with virtually no deviation- 2215-2217. I have not chronographed in the Omega but expect it is slightly faster as the barrel is slighly longer so I am assuming the powder burns in the barrel a little bit longer.
