I am currently shooting peep sight from Williams, but my eyes are not what they used to be - what scope could I get for the next season? Nikon Omega maybe? What would you recommend? Thank you

I have my Omega set up exactly the same as yours. If I were to change anything I would mount the EABCO Peep-Rib so I still had the peep in case you ever go on a Muzzleloader Only hunt that dictates iron sight. But for the rest of your hunting I would mount the Nikon Omega. I don't have that exact scope but I do have their Slughunter which is almost exactly the same. I don't need the holdover reticle but the optic fits the rifle well, is accurate, and has a ton of eye-relief. For the money I don't think you could beat that optic.

I like 7mm's idea for a peep-sighted Weaver base. For optics also consider a Leupold FX-II 2.5x20mm Ultralight or an Ultradot 30mm. I don't need help seeing the deer at realistic iron-sight ranges, but as I "mature" it helps to be able to focus on the deer instead of the sights.

I learned a new trick - well at least for me - to unscrew the peep sight and use only the holder for low light conditions. I was hunting tonight and it really works, I had a deer at 40 yards and with the peep sight set like this, it was possible to aim even it was getting dark. The deer was too little to take, but that's not the point here

I also unscrew the insert for low light or if I'm getting into thick stuff and think a quick shot might occur. I've also shot it like that at the range before and cannot tell that there is any difference in precision or accuracy inside 100yds.

When I instal an apperature sight with the screw in target size hole, I unscrew the insert and pitch in the can. IMO, they do amke a difference when shooting paper, when the bull is the right size on a target, but who cares, getting rid of them doesn't affect accuracy enough to make a difference in the field and the wider apperature is better for everything from ssing the game to low light, etc. JPK Free 500grains

I tried out both the nikon omega and the leupold ultimate slam. Nothing wrong with the nikon, but I didn't really like that the drop dots are open. I've got the ultimate slam and can highly recommend it, plus the 3x9 model is about $10 cheaper than the omega.

I did some research and now I am thinking about this one Latherwood Hi- Lux But ML season is 2 weeks in Virginia and this year I unloaded the Omega unfired night before rifle season starts Now the question is - would it be a reason to upgrade to scope or stop sinking money in ML?) I think there was deer I would shoot if I could see it better, but I am still undecided.

I been using a red dot scope for a few years, but then, ranges are usually less than 100 yds here. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********
