Well, an update on the Thompson Omega I bought last week! I looked at a few scopes and my budget right before Christmas I picked up a Nikon 2-7X Pro-Staff Shotgun scope in matt black . It is waterproof, fogproof with lifetime warrantee for $129! Leupold base and rings. For the price, I was happy. I was getting about 2" groups at 100yds with 2 777 50gr pellets. I was using the Hornady 250gr ML SST's. I had no problems loading the first 2 shots, but the fouling was bad and I had to swab the bore or trying to get #3 loaded was almost impossible. Well, I was sitting in the stand Sat at dusk and had a 9 pt chasing a doe bust right if front of me. He stopped. I lased him at 73 yards, eased my rifle into position, and fired. He ran into some thick cover, the silence. I climbed down out of the stand and reloaded. Went into the thick stuff for about 40 yards and the light from my flashlight caught a reflection from his eye! Took out both lungs. Nice 9pt with a 15inch inside spread. Not to bad, considering I had never shot a muzzle loader until this past Friday!! Will post pics later!!!! Needless to say, I am pleased with my Thompson and am looking forward to trying some other loads for next year!!! | ||
