I finally got to shoot my 54cal Lyman Great Plaines percussion rifle I built from a kit last winter. I got 5 nice 54cal round ball holes in a 3" group at 100yrds. I was using 100grs of Pyrodex RS (sorry I don't shoot black powder) I am very pleased with this performance it shoots as well as my Knight inline 54 using sabot's and 44 jacketed bullets. My question is what distance do you think I should site in for Deer? I only have access to 25yrds and 100yrds at the outdoor target range at Cheney Lake. I have shot most of my Deer at 25yrds to 50yrds, but I have taken two at 92 to 100yrds in the past. Your opinions will be appreciated. | ||
