african game
Something I Don't understand. Why do you need a .375 or .416 on african game if their killing them with inlines?

nordrsetaWho said you need a 375 or a 416?
What sort of African game are they killing?
What sort of inlines are they using?
Who is they?

ReloaderJim Shockey has killed alot of Dangerous game with an inline in his shows. The Hippo hunt was a wild episode. His PH on that hunt had balls of steel(better yet, DIAMONDS!), that guy just stood there while everyone else tucked tail and scrammed and he nailed that hippo at mere feet during the charge. I think I would have been ahead of the trackers in getting the heck out of dodge

Back to the topic, I don't think a .458 cal in the 350-400 grn range would be too shabby at 2300+ fps from a Savage ML102. The one shot deal would steer me away. Rather be toting a double in case a follow up is needed.

L. David Keith.375 is the minimum rifle cartridge for DG in most if not all African countries. With M/l's, most are using .50 with special bullets (some experimental) pushed by 200 grains of BP substitute. You would be backed up by well armed PH's.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

It seems you meant to say _dangerous_ African game. Most other game in Africa falls over quite neatly to a 30'06. After seeing the effectiveness of a .429 300 gr LBT WFN @ 1375 fps on a variety of African antelope and warthog I wouldn't hesitate to use a .50 muzzleloader fed bore diameter conicals on anything that wouldn't hunt me back.
