Nipple wrenches are found in most ML aisles of the outdoors store. If you are using a 209 primer/breechplug, try a socket & wrench for fit. If that don't work, call Remington by phone for the proper part.

7/16 socket will work to remove the breech plug. If it is a percussion cap nipple a small wrench (not sure the size off hand) will allow you to loose this once removed from the breech. If it has the cabela's 209 conversion on it(like mine) a large flat head srew driver will remove the nipple and then use the 7/16" socket to remove the breech plug.

Like mentioned the tool should be available, however it isn't really required if you have the above items. Just don't over tighten your breech with your socket drive when you grease and re-install!

Steve, I like the CVA Slick Nipple and Breech grease the best. If you can't find it the Knight brand breech grease has also worked alright or plumbers teflon tape(pink colour not the standard white stuff - Home depot, etc sell the pink stuff) works in a pinch. Coat the threads entirely and hand tighten only.

I would recommend you loosen your breech at the range directly following your last shot while still warm. This doesn't pose a problem when hunting as you rarely take many stacked shots like on the range.

Best of luck and enjoy your new ML.
