Some data from a comparison with my .50 Stainless Omega on the same day. I shot three different powders with a 300gr. bullet in a Harvester sabot at 7000fr. altitude. Triple Seven ffg - 1643fps Clean Shot (APP)ffg - 1670fps Black Mag3 - 1920fps
These were three shot groups over my Chronograph set up five feet from the muzzle.
I think I believe the 2000fps plus with the lighter bullets. I ran a second test with Black Mag3 and the 300gr. bullet in Harvester sabots and switched from my .25ACP ignition to a Winchester 209 and the 300gr. bullet with 100gr. of BM3 three shot average at 2004fps. Measured about six or seven feet from the muzzle (I tried to not shoot my chronograph to pieces with unburned powder).

You must have a very very fast barrel. I haven't seen many that would break 2000 or even close.

Yep, For two years now, all 3 of our Omegas average with in 40 fps of each other. You'll notice this is with 250 grains of Pyro pellets, loose is 150 to 200 fps slower depending upon gun.

I get my chrono out as far as the cord goes, about 12 feet. That Black Mag looks pretty hot. Do you have gun makers recomended max loads for it? Or is it still to new?

I saw one post where Knight apparently approves of Black Mag3. I have dropped my charge from 100gr. to 90gr. (ffg black powder volume equivalent) for hunting with my 300gr. bullets. I only shoot about 100 yards most of the time so 2000fps is too much velocity even for elk. I shot my elk this year at 100 yards with the 90gr. charge and the Hornady 300gr. went completely through the chest cavity at a slight angle from rear to front. Didn't hit major bone however. I certainly would not shoot 150gr. volume equivalent of BM3 in spite of what anybody said. Not necessary!! Recoil wise the BM3 is a pussycat compared to 777 for similar velocities and I am somewhat recoil sensitive. I shoot a 30-06 sometimes but it is my upper limit and 10 rounds of that is plenty for me.
