I brought my .50 omega to the range yesterday, after firing about 5 times at 25 yards to see what bullets grouped the best and make sure i would be on the papper, i moved the target out to 100 yards. my first 3 shot grop was about 1.5 inches but too high and to the left, i adjusted and it brought it dead on and it was 1.5 inches also. after that group the groups opened up to 3 - 4 inches. Is this normal? i didnt wait inbetween shots to let it cool down. I did swab the barrel with a no 13 cleaner patch and a dry patch between every shot. I was thinking maybe the heat was softening the sabot and degrading acuraccy.

always try and shoot in 3 shot strings after the thrird shot on each string then swab the bore for the next string. making shure the barrel is perfectly dry. and the nipple way is clear.

A MLer is Much more critical about bbl heat when using Plastic saboted bullets. The reason is that the plastic gets plyable as it heats therefore, you don't get the consistency from shot to shot as from a cool bbl w/ cool sabots. When temps are over the 70s, I keep my sabots covered and out of sunlight and sometimes wait 10 or more minutes inbetween shots to allow the bbl to cool. Good Luck! Reloader

I swab after every shot. 2-3 wet patches (windex), then 2-3 dry patches. Ends up being about 10mins between shots, and each shot is out of a clean/cool barrel. And that is what you will be hunting with. Thanks, Mark G Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. Genesis 9:3
