This is a ML'er forum.......not a primitive or even a black powder forum.......if it loads from the muzzle it qualifies on this forum....period.

This is the same old arguement that has split the ML'ing forums on several sites recently and would make me wonder aloud if these traditional hunters who are in it for the total experience also walk to their hunting areas and shun gore tex, topo maps, aerial photos, metal treestands, gps, deer calls and scents, and those rubber boots and warm modern clothes as well? Or is it traditional in firearm style only with guns made on modern day machinery?

Let me relate my own personal area and hunting laws so you can see how silly these arguements are with regionally different ML hunting seasons that vary.......

I live in Maine where the FIRST ML'ing season was created in 1986.......inlines were already being made and sold and the lawmakers and DNR were completely aware of the different types and styles of ML'ers that were available. They allowed sabots, scopes, inlines, and smokeless powder right from the start and never called it primitive or black powder season. Now in 2004 the local chapter of traditional ML'ers have decided to try and get a primitive season just for themselves to be able to use flintlocks in. I say good for them as they want an early season not the ML'er season we have now that follows a month of bow and another month of CF before we can ML hunt and after the rut has ended and the winter is kicking in with a vengence. Out total ML deer kill just broke a 1000 animals in 2 weeks. Our total deer kill runs some over 25,000 and they didn't enact the ML'er season to help control increasing deer herds as ours is so small its bucks only with doe available by permit and a limit of one animal per year by any hunting means. As you can see our state shoots down the cheaters have invaded - they changed the original intent - their killing all the deer - its our season and those inliners are taking it over - it wasn't originally for inliners.... these facts just aren't true and we all hunt and get along without all this do it my way or you are not welcome attitude. There is no moral high ground to certain methods just what any individual desires as long as its legal and safe. Geeze I'm glad this excullisionary mind set isn't a local problem and nobody has to feel threatened by anothers legal method of hunting. Maybe you like to sneak up within 20 yds and shoot em with a side hammer and I like to shoot them at long range with a Savage......we are both within our legal rights during our season and I don't much care if that rocks rather than floats your boat, cause it don't rile the local ML'er hunters much at all.

With inlines outselling traditional ML'er styles at 7-1 it don't look like the numbers are ever going to favor banning many inline hunting methods any time soon either.

Oh yeah......send that radio controled plane up this way (sounds a little non-traditional to me ).....I need some moving target practice with these 250grain Hornady SST's with that plastic "thingy" on the tips
