My season is coming to an end, stores are having end of season sales and I'm getting low on SST's. Seemed like a great time to stock back up until I figured out Hornady changed the sabots on them to a "New and Improved!" low drag easy to load red one. Why o' why must they dink with things? Has anybody else switched from black to red already? Did your gun still group the same without changing the powder load? Did you need to resight it? I know I have to go through the whole process again... I'm just curious what my chances are the new ones will be close to the old. Thanks.

You hit on exactly why I am not a Hornady fan. They do this quite a bit, but at least this time it was immediately obvious... Unlike a while back when they changed their big bore solids... Good luck on the new ones working as well for you.

You can by the sabots separately. It is the HPH 12. I bought some and was told they are the same and I compared them to sabots from the SSTs and they are an exact match. Sabots Scroll down about half way. I use these is my savage with smokeless powder. They handle high pressure loads very well.
