I found a great buy on Knight disc elites from Jerry's sports center . $220 for stainless composite. I ordered 5 for guys I hunt with. After I placed the order I started thinking. Why are these so cheap? They are less than the original disc rifle and less than the disc extreme. Did I just buy a whole bunch of some POS that Knight discontinued because they are a POS. Any input?

You are going to love the rifle. They are accurate and shoot extremely well. I have one of the original disc rifles, which I have upgraded the firing system to the red discs. I shoot around a 1" group at 100 yrds. I just took an elk in New Mexico at 209 with one shot. My rifle prefers 150 gr 777 pellets and a 300 gr barnes red hot hollow point sabot.

I know the disc rifles are very accurate and popular. I was just wondering why Knight discontinued a supposed improvement on the original but continues to make the original. The latest improvement is the disk extreme. The ones I ordered are disc elites and were cheaper than the disc originals.

The Disc Elites use the old typ of disc which doesn't seal as well as the Extreme type and Knight appears to be going soley to the Extreme type of ignition system. There are alot of places selling the ordiginal type of Disc rifles (and Elites) for pretty low prices. I think you are getting a great rifle.

Good Luck!

Reloader--
The Disc Elite uses the newest(red) primer holder. At least the one I purchased new last winter does.

Smike 308 is right. The Elite uses the newest type of disc. Too bad because I live in Washington State and 209 primers aren't legal here. I thought I could use the old style disc with the number 11 percussion cap adapter in this rifle. After talking to Knight they say it's a no go. There's another problem with these rifles. At least as far as Washington is concerned. These things don't come with open sights. They are set up for a scope only. I really screwed the pooch on this one. I've got six of these things and I'm going to have to refund money to my hunting partners and get rid of these things. I hate it when that happens. Anyone need a good deal on one or several new in the box top of the line Knights?

As far as I am aware the Elites always had the Extreme action...

Smike and Migra, You are right, they do come w/ the red jacket system. Brain fart I guess, I could have sworn a fella told me his "Elite" was the original orange disc type the other day.

In that case, they oughtta be a darn fine rifle and better than the original orange disc rifles.

I purchased a Disc Extreme kit and installed it on my Knight, it's a fine ignition system. Much better than the other they had IMO.

If the deer would cooperate I could try mine out again this week. We haven't been seeing many in the last couple of days but, a front just hit so it should get better.

Good Luck

Kudulove,

I'll go over this again. 5 stainless, 1 blue, all .50 caliber all composite. These are the disc elite. I'm getting quite the education on the knight line of rifles. I wish I had done this research prior to ordering and I wouldn't be writing this. The elite is a light countour 26" barrel version of the disc extreme but it has no sights it is only set up for a scope. They

Sure you can. Hunt the general rifle season and out hunt the centerfire guys...that's what I do in Idaho.

The elite is an easy 200+ yard rifle with the proper practice.
