Boy was he happy to get this buck. He was using my 460 gr paper patched bullets. He made a great shot and the antelope tastes great. Ron

Congratulations, Ron you obviously taught him right. His camo blends in perfectly. With that 460 grain bullet the antelope must have been DRT.

Well done, nice one. Please give info on rifle etc if possible? Its been raining very hard the past few days down here and every time it rains for some weird unknown reason I get back into thinking about blackpowder hunting. My dream is to shoot a White Tail deer one day with a .54 ball.....

I like old school looks with high tech guts and dependability

This one is also a TC Renegade with a Stainless Steel 50 cal Green Mountain barrel, 1-28 twist. It has a Lyman 57 SML peep, a Lyman 17 AML globe front sight with Lee Shavers inserts. This is my Son’s rifle. The load for this rifle is a paper patched 500 S&W bullet by my Lee 501-440-RF Mould, and it weighs 460 gr. It uses 80 gr of Pyrodex P with an over powder wad. Ron

This last rifle is my Hot Rod Hawken. This one is a 1-30 twist. It has the Lyman 57 sights and Lyman 17 AML globe front sight with Lee Shavers inserts. The load is 80 gr of pyrodex P with an over powder wad. The Bullet is a RCBS 11mm bullet that is .446 when it comes out of the mould. I paper patch it and size it again to .446 and it is ready to shoot.

Congratulations to your son, and to you too! I'm guessing that is a "447" buck? I've done that hunt a couple times, and it was a lot of fun.
