anyone have any tricks on busting loose a stuck breech plug on a T/C Omega?? I've tried everything I can think of with no luck at all and I'm afraid to strip put the head on the plug.

get a friend to help you.Its hard to hold the gun and get enough torque on it ,to get it out.Once you get it out and clean it good, apply a liberal amount of breech plug grease, which keeps the plug from getting stuck again.

What powder were you shooting? Different powders require different methods of removing a stuck breechplug.

Don't panic. First, seal off primer pocket with cotton patch and tape. Second, set gun upright, on butt and pour into muzzle some solvent. Third, allow solvent to soak a minimum of 24hrs. Fourth, if you do not have a vice, get someone to hold the gun down on a flat surfice. Now, use a correct size socket, not the supplied wrench. Go to Sears or hardware store for socket and may need 1/4" drive extension. Apply steady force and it should break loose, but slowly.

Next, once you have it removed, clean thoroughly and don't use 777 or Pyrodex powder again! I switched to Blackhorn 209 and this stuff is great. No breech plug problems and no or little fouling. Good Luck.

Soaking the breech plug in solvent should work.

A simple way to keep the plug from sticking again is wrap it in teflon tape plumbers use, the pink stuff seems to be the best to use on breech plugs.
Also you can apply a anti seize greese.
what ever method you use DO NOT over tighten the plug, snug is good enough. About every ten shots at the range back it out a little then snug it back up again.

No need to pay $30.00 for powder just to keep the breech plug free.

Thanks for the help guys, I got it broke loose. I don't want to go through that again! I'm going to be alot more careful with keeping that plug lubed up in the future. I never had any problems like this with my Remington .54 though.

I use teflon grease to keep the plug from siezing, but I think the teflon thread tape is a great idea!
