I have an original Omega stainless and since then the Z5 has come out. I believe the differences are sights, less attention to metal finish on the barrel exterior, slight difference in the construction of the trigger group and possibly some slight difference in the stock although the original Omega stainless with synthetic stock is a joke as far as stock design is concerned. Most Omega rifles with synthetic stock take some work to make the rifle shoot well. I know mine is still in bad need of bedding and possibly pillar bedding as the consistency is pretty poor. With the limits on shooting conicals and the poor synthetic stocks I would look at other rifles before spending money on another Omega. On the plus side the Omega will shoot the BH209 powder which several other rifles will not. My Omega is also very picky as to what bullet and sabot combinations will go down the bore.

I have a laminated stainless omega and it has caused all my other muzzleloaders to gather dust. i shoot 87grs of 777 and a heavy conical with an apeture sight so as to be legal everywhere and accomplish any task reasonably asked of it.

X2! Mine is a 45 cal and is very accurate. It needs swabbing after two or three shots using Powerbelts, which I do not recomend. After shooting up the last of the Powerbelts I will make a change.

I just bought my eight year old son a 50 cal Omega after his Knight junior rifle failed to fire on two very nice bucks. I believe user error - mine - was the cause of the fail to fires, the Knight needs adjustment after disassembly to ensure the cap is struck. Enough of that - simple is the better option and the Omega is that.

My son's Omega shoots eighty grains of Pyrodex pellets under a T/C 50 cal sabot for .429" bullets and Sierra 44 cal 180gr bullet and is very accurate. At eight years old he managed a 1" 50yd group with all touching. Also, his rifle is MUCH easier to load than mine and five shots without swabbing is possible without too much effort seating the sabot/bullet.

Trigger pull on both my son's Omega and mine is just perfect, light and crisp. Couldn't ask for better.

I would recomend the stainless laminate Omega to anyone!
