I got to hold a savage and a knight yesterday. That savage sure is alot heavier than the knight.

The Savage is the ticket for stand/blind hunting but, not for long stalks. About the furtherest I've hunted w/ mine was a mile or so from the truck on fairly flat land. It would get old quick on totes longer than that.

One thing to consider is most shooters shoot better w/ Heavier rifles especially, when shooting freehand. If looong stalks were not on the menu, I'd think about that.

It also depends on what type of Point Blank range you want in a Mler. W/ the Savage and Smokeless 200 yard shots are a walk in the park but, W/ a regular MLer it can be quite a challenge if you aren't good at hold overs.
