Is this normal for a 209 CCI primer pushing 100 grains of trip 7 MMP red sabot with a .451 hornaday 230 grain HP XTP? Al Garden View Apiaries where the view is as sweet as the honey.

Al, are you damp/dry swabbing between shots? The T7 crud ring will cause increased pressures if not. I know others have said that primer is not all that abnormal - but something is creating/allowing too much blowback. Wonder if a new spring in your bolt would help (or the Cabela's 209 conversion)? WHUT?

This is the very first primer I fired a charge with after installing the Cabelas 209 kit, with the new spring that came with it. I did swab between shots too. I did back down to 80 gr trip seven for my last shot of the day, and that primer didn't do this. No time to play with it more to see if it will do it with different brands of primers or with the 80 gr charge. Thanks. Al Garden View Apiaries where the view is as sweet as the honey.
