I haven't tried to remove the plug from my Lyman Great Plains rifle. What do you want to remove yours for?

I have changed mine out several times..I replaced it with a different one made of SS and had more gap...My gun is an older Lyman Great Plains Rifle so maybe its different, I just used the tool that is made for that purpose..
