This is my first season using a muzzleloader andI have been to too busy to get to a decent range to sight in my Austin & Halleck. The BP season starts a week from today and the only range I will have access to is a 50yd range. The A&H is 50cal., has a 26" barrel. I have a 1x4.75 scope mounted, center of crosshairs are 1.5" over the line of bore. I'll be shooting Barnes 300g saboted expanders that have a BC of .207, with 2 Cleanshot or Pyrodex pellets. I know that for most modern rifles, generally speaking, 2" high @ 100 yds will put you about dead on @ 200 yds. Considering my setup, where should my POI be @50yds to get the best range from the gun? I'm thinking somewhere between .5 and 1 inch? I'm hunting NY woods so almost all shots will be 100yds and under. Thanks, Rob

We need your estimated muzzle velocity. Starting at 1700 fps the bullet will be +.2" at 25 yds, +1.0" at 50 yds, +1.0" a 75 yds, zeroed at 100 yds, -2.1" at 125 yds, -5.5" at 150 yds, -10" at 175 yds and -16" at 200 yds. You can go to www.huntingnut.com and download the free "PointBlank" program. That's how I did it. Good luck. The ML season opens in CT tommorrow and I am going to try it too.

Yeah I know that would do it but I have no idea. I used some tables I have in a Sierra laod book. Using a BC of .210 (close as I could get) my book shows .9" at 1800 and 1.1" at 1700 at 50yds. for a 100 yd. zero. Guess I'll go with about an inch. Thanks, Rob
