Just bought a box of this new formulation. It's supposed to give a 250gr bullet about 200fps more velocity than regular load of two T7 pellets. I didn't have my chrono set up but I can say it is some good shooting stuff! I used my Encore Pro Hunter with 250gr Barnes TMZs, 250gr XTPs and a few 300gr XTPs. The fouling after each shot is a good bit less than I normally get with loose T7, but I still patch between shots. The TMZs shot great, the one group I fired was right at an inch, while the others made 2" or slightly larger groups @ 100yds. Next time out I will bring the chrono and see how two pellets of this compares to my typical load of 100gr loose T7. EDIT...78* this morning but I decided to go out anyway and test the velocity of these new pellets against loose T7. I shot one three shot group with each load, using 250gr SSTs and 250gr TMZs with supplied sabots. The velocity average for the 2 pellet load of new T7 Magnum was 1927fps for all six shots. The 100gr charge of loose T7 did almost the identical velocity, averaging 1922fps. I also thre in a few 300gr XTPs with both charges and the velocity for those was 1826fps avg. I have no regular T7 pellets so can't say it isn't faster than a 2 pellet loading of that, BUT it is not any faster than 100gr of loose powder! Accuracy is similar, some bullets like the pellet loads better while others seem to do best with the loose powder. | ||
