To start out with, check several differant smiths that do custom muzzys.Take your time and choose who & what type of muzzy you want to go with. make sure you ask them if they can make a southpaw for ya. Look at several types & make a choice from your favorite. If you was to go to www.trackof thewolf.com , you will have several types that you can use for ideas. Here are a couple that are pretty decent.

I've personally only dealt with one company and that's JP Gunstocks. They used to have a web site, but apparently not any more, so I don't know if they are still in business. I have bought 2 flintlocks from them, the first was a JP Henry .50 cal and the other was a Lancaster .50 cal. The other semi custom maker that I know is a good one is Tennessee Valley Manufacturing (TVM) As far as putin a new lock in the pedersoli rifles, it can be done, but having the right size lock plate, sear alignment, pan location and lock bolt location are variables that you would have to deal with. I've done exactly that on 2 rifles, but one I had to use some brownell's acraglas to fill in the void to support the lock. I wouldn't do that on most rifles. If you're lucky, you may fine a lock that will allow remortising to a slightly larger profile if you have enough wood to do it. It's also possible that L&R or Chambers has replacement locks for the pedersolis. I believe that all of Dixie Guns Works rifles are made by Pedersoli.
