Just got back from hunting central Florida. This was my first hunt for hogs. I'm hooked! It was HOT and the second day it rained about 6 inches so it became a swamp with all of the requisite mosquitos. Thanks to those that recommended the thermocell. I also used the Off Clip On with great success as well.

After helping a friend spot and stalk within bow range of a nice hog, we went after one for me and the muzzleloader. This one didn't see us as he walked along the fence line. He got within 50 yards and made the mistake of turning broadside infront of the CVA Kodiak. He just raised dust as he went straight down.

I was using 110 grains of Blackhorn209 behind a Hornady 300 grain SST and sabot. The best part is that I didn't have to clean it until today and the shot was Tuesday. Blackhorn's great stuff. The scope is a Simmons Pro 1X, since the eyes are getting old.

If you haven't been to Florida, Osceola Outfitters does a great job of taking care of you and the meat. I can't say enough about Hoppy and his crew. I posted this in the Hog forum as well.

Congrats on your hog now the fun begins.

I have been wanting to go hog hunting for years. Last winter break a friend found a farmer that had a Male and Female hog to sale. One shot between the ears and eyes with my Dan Wesson 22 and we had meat to process. I know it is not the same as real hog hunting but I wanted to learn how to process a hog.

Nice Hog.
I'm glad to hear you had a nice hunt.

The 110 grains of BH 209 is good stuff with a 300 grain bullet.

Yes, the 209 combo with the 300 grain Hornady works very well in my CVA. Thanks for the kind words.
