Point is that the buckskinners were the ones that created the muzzle loading rifle seasons and the other hunters wanted in on the action. But many of todays hunters are not interested in becoming proficient with primitive muzzleloaders. So the manufacturers created the modern muzzle loading rifles.

If we allowed these hunters to use their modern cartridge rifles in the muzzle loading season, then that will be the end of the modern muzzle loading rifles. The buckskinners will continue to use the traditional guns.

There's one sad state of affairs with which I believe we
can all agree. Love inlines or hate them, they HAVE
attracted some unsavory "hunters" that none of us ever
wanted to see get into our muzzle loading seasons.......
shotgunners who are accustomed to hunting in groups and
shoot at anything that moves. The inline is easy to load,
easy to clean, more accurate than most slugs, and
saboted bullets shoot a lot further. These guys try
hunting the same way they do during shotgun season and
the only thing "safe" about these clowns is that they are
limited to one shot. Thank God that Iowa does not allow
center fires in the hands of this type of hunter, or the
only place that would be safe would be a bunker with a
good steel door!!!

Hunter, I was one of the buckskinners you mention. Started
out with a .58 Zouve in the '60's and used a .54 Trade
Rifle in the '80's. Never did care for flintlocks, though.
Still have my purty ol' mud turtle jacket. I poured my own
lead and made a few hundred minnie balls for both rifles.
And I knock no one for still doing that, or using such
rifles for hunting purposes.

Iowa muzzle loader seasons are just that -- MUZZLE LOADER.
It isn't labelled "traditional" or "primitive". Never was.
Same with a lot of other states. And I have been using
an Encore for the past few years. Next fall I'll be using
that and a 10MLBSS-II. I'll not be competing with any of
you "traditional" guys because it'll be on my land and on
the land of a farmer who allows only two of us to hunt. The
other guy is also an Encore shooter.

I've been on both sides of the subject, here, and for the
life of me, I can't understand why you die-hard
"traditionalists" want to governmentally control the
rest of us, especially at a time when we are all targets
of the "anti's". Would you side with them if they help you
pick us inline users off? Then the shotgunners? Then the
CF hunters? Then who will be left to help you when they
turn on you and have the government take away your
flintlocks and sidelocks? This is all so senseless.

Woodseye - Dustin Brass had two left to sell before they
got their order of eight in by the time I ordered. They
should receive them Wednesday and my 10MLBSS-II should
be on its way home!!!
