I really like the thought of a short 20" ML barrel for the areas I hunt, but I'm concerned with the 20" length and powder burn. Not to mention accuracy. I do not know the max grains of powder for this barrel, but I'm assuming 150 grains for a .50 cal ML. I typically shoot 100 grains. My shots at game are usually 75 yards or less. Should I consider TC's P.H. Katahdin .50 cal ML for what I described? And, if anyone can share their experiences with this Katahdin ML barrel, I'd appreciate it. I have a T/C Omega X-7 20" model and love it. Very accurate with 100-110 grains (by volume) of T7 and 250 gr shock waves. No idea how much velocity loss there is, and I'm not much worried about it, since I'm in Maine and 50 yard shots are pretty long. Not familiar with the Katahdin though. What is it? my bad--my X7 has a 24" barrel. Still love it. Don't sweat the barrel length too much. Muzzle velocity isn't what it's about with muzzle loaders anyway. Shoot it and see what it does.

Dth- I hear ya. I am thinking about the same thing. Can't find any velocity info on the 20" tube though. I know 2 pellets 777 with 250grn bullet = approx 1800fps with 26"-28" tube. Anyone with a 20" tube and a chrono? I Just may have to buy one just to see. It is does'nt lose too much, it would be sweet !! Kevin
