Im a Gunsmith and have a older gentleman customer that would like to hunt Elk one more time before he can't. He has been applying for rifle hunts but not drawn and muzzleloader is easier to get drawn for. He has a T/C 45 cal Hawken type rifle that he wants to use. I found him some black powder and caps but can't find anyone that has 45 cal maxi hunters. I know TC closed their doors. I have used inlines the last 15 years and no idea what bullets are out there for the slower twist barrels. Im assuming his is a 1:48 twist since he purchased the rifle in the 80s. What 45 caliber bullets is everyone using for Elk with the slower twist? I am teaching him how to load it and would prefer conical that he doesn't have to patch. Thanks in advance

Make sure you both read and know the regs. Seems like some states require a minimum of .50 cal for elk. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight
