Hi Folks, First off a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm happy as can be as I FINALLY shot a whitetail buck deer w/ my M/L rifle on the 22nd of Dec. @ our farm in MO. It was about 70 yds. away coming into an open field, heading west. I took off my right glove and set the back trigger, lined up the silver blade front into the bottom of the rear buckhorn, and touched the front trigger. My rifle is a 40 yr. old kit gun from the old Green River Rifle Works in Utah. It's a .50 cal. shooting .495 round balls patched w/ pillow ticking. I used 100 gr. of Pyrodex RS, RWS #11 caps, and it worked well, going into the left side, breaking a rib, destroying the lungs and exiting the right side, taking out a rib there. He was a 2 1/2 yr. old buck, that ran about 40 yds. in the snow and died. It was a beautiful sunny day, w/ light south breezes and a temp. of around 32*. I got him to a 4 wheeler and he's now cut up. A young bowhunter told me, "I'm old school", but that's OK! Sorry to ramble on, but I'm a HAPPY man! I wanted to do this for a long time and one I can check off of my "bucket list". Now, it's addictive - ready for next fall! Thanks for reading this note to share my joy! Brittman

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment. I love hearing about the Patched Round Ball hunters taking game. "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

Congrats on a fine hunt. Many folks way underestimate how deadly and accurate a roundball is. 100 paces off a rest, .61 caliber Baker British Military rifle, iron sighte and 7 decade eyes.
