I guess when you live in a place where your blood lines dictate who controls the masses as well as a place where anyone that "counts" is from one lineage/ race/ religion/ ethnic background - you would not understand the process called "democracy".

I never understand why non US citizens think they have any say or even an opinion on how WE chose to run our country. Most countries do not allow the citizens any voice at all yet some feel compelled to tell the USA that we are "brainless idiots".

As a common person that has traveled the world for work for 40+ years, I am amused and curious why people outside the USA want to have a say in our government and politics. I go to the UK and no real understanding of why they have a king/queen whatever. And more, I do not care. it is their business and country. I go Egypt and have no clue why the masses have more faith in the military than other means of governing. I go to Russia and am clueless why they have the system they have. I have studied history and understand the basics of "whoever has the gold makes the rules" or "whoever has the guns runs the country", yet I never grasp why the masses allow it.

In the USA, a young type of government, we argue, discuss, select candidates, then vote. We live with our mistakes until the next election which is always less than 2 years away.

So why would anyone outside the USA think they can even have an informed opinion on our process and methods when I cannot grasp why a significant part of the world cannot even allow dissent to discuss this????

I completely agree, your country, your rules. However you must realise that what happens in the US affects the rest of the world, particularly the western leaning part of it.

If China had elections the result would affect the rest of the world too, including the US. Therefore don't be surprised that others have an opinion. The US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold as the saying goes.

Does the US care one iota what is happening politicaly in Belgium, of course not. But you can bet the reverse is true. It's not the only cause but poor lending and increasing defaults in the US was a major cause of the 2008 crash. We all face the consequences, to some degree, of what happened in the US.
