I admit I’m not super impressed with how DOGE is being run, but on the other hand, it’s the first time in how long that someone is making a concerted effort to cut wasteful spending in government.

They may well over it, but then we can reappropriate money as needed.

The modern social policy was meant as an emergency safety net, not a way of life.

While I think Musk bringing his preadolescent son to the white house and letting him act like a kid is inappropriate for someone who is working, it’s not something that doesn’t happen with some regularity. Big deal… if that’s what you have to complain about, you are losing the debate re the role of government.

Trump is acting like a modern businessman… find some sort of leverage to use in negotiations, then get as much as you can. It’s not particularly neighborly and it’s something that tends to cause hard feelings. With business, you find someone else to deal with. Governing is a bit different, and I do feel that Trump’s methodology might have some unintended consequences… but it was the choice we had. More of the same, or a known risk taker who more often than not got his desired results in the system he had available to him.

I think the lefties are being more than a little hypocritical, but the folks on the right who refuse to acknowledge any concerns have to be equally criticized.
