Trump is calling for the use of the military to police cities. That being places we do not like.

This would be a violation of The Posse Comitatus Act. However, with the S. Ct., recent immunity decision, I doubt this law is restraining when the President cites the Insurrection Act or some general power as Commander in Chief.

In Trump world and words we will be sending the U.S. Army to states to strip the civil authority and rights of citizens.

That is exactly what the Framers feared. That could create a crisis of indescribable proportions when a governor with the state police and National Guard refuses Trump’s military take over of the state.

That is not conservatism. That is not Republican government. That is not the original intent of the founders. That is not permitted by centuries old laws and understanding of those law in our constitutional system.

That is tyranny spoken by a tyrant.

Yes, I do see the irony.

So, thanks for the irony of the irony. That's why we debate. You had me for a while. I had to think about that one. I was not aware of the additional facts about the boarding. So, thanks for that info. It's significant, IMO.

As I recall, back in 1968 or so, there were mass protests over the Viet Nam war. I missed the protests, and learned about them later, since I was in Nam about that time. The protests were about violence, yet some turned violent in reciprocal ways. Remember Kent State?

Now, we have protests imminent in Chicago, which may turn violent, exceeding 1st amendment purpose. Again, we have protests with potential to turn violent, rioting with violence over violence. I do not understand why some people don't get it that violence defeats their own purpose. It's stupid or intentional, but I still see it as mixed intent gone astray.

It's all dystopic to me.

It's just too much.

If don’t want an IUD, a vasectomy, or an abortion or hate Israel…I am not sure what business you would have at the DNC.

I don't want or hate any of the above, and I don't have any business at the DNC.

But I don't want Trump in the WH again, and I don't want project 2025 to be implemented.

I don't want the EPA to be gutted, and I want the environment to be protected far better than it is now. I know that any conservative agenda will not include nearly enough environmental protection.

(They were the work of the “Freedom Road Socialist Organization.”) The protesters had their street puppets and their giant bloody hands. They denounced “Killer Kamala” along with Genocide Joe. I heard nary a mention of Oct. 7 or Hamas’s hostages, but clarion calls for the destruction of Israel: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. From the sea to the river, Palestine will live forever.”


Still, the first question from a reporter at a news conference by the organizers was about whether the loss of Biden as their foil had “changed the crowd size.” An organizer said “we won’t know that for a couple more hours.”

A few hours later, we knew. Only 100 people attended a protest march on the DNC by the “Poor People’s Army,” and that was after they delayed the start by 90 minutes. With Green Party candidate Jill Stein in attendance, their announced intention was to make “citizen’s arrests” of Democrats attending the convention and to charge them with “crimes against humanity.”

A similarly incompetent demonstration unfolded in the arena while Biden spoke Monday night. A few demonstrators toward the back raised their telltale “Jill” signs — for Stein — and a banner announcing “Stop Arming Israel” in Palestinian colors. Those in front of them blocked the banner with their “We Love Joe” bollard signs until it was removed.


Outside, a few dozen demonstrators broke off from the main group and, a couple of blocks from the arena, threw water bottles at police while taking down a few sections of the outer perimeter fence. Police quickly seized control without using tear gas, nobody was seriously injured, and police reported a grand total of 13 arrests for the day.

The people in the streets of Chicago this week bear little resemblance to the mass movement of students in the spring that shut down universities. Rather, these are the usual suspects, the sort of far-left groups that have been protesting at Democratic conventions for years on an ever-shifting list of grievances. They were never going to vote Democratic, if they vote at all.

And there just aren’t that many of them. “To be quite frank, I expected more significant protests. I haven’t seen much,” said Jill Zipin, a Pennsylvania delegate and a Democratic Jewish activist distributing campaign buttons that said “Don’t Kvetch, Vote!”
